Creating a centralized procurement department
for a leading automotive expert in the French market

 

Context

Growing since its creation, the leading automotive expertise in the French market, with a network of over 80 branches in the area, wanted to improve its profitability. The sourcing lever was quickly identified as a means to achieve this goal.

Until now, the company’s sourcing, highly fragmented, was the subject of very little consultation or negotiation vis-à-vis market suppliers. Furthermore, no procedures had been clearly defined.

To remedy this situation, the Executive Management of the company used Karistem to accompany the creation of a purchasing department and the professionalization of its procedures.

Mission

To meet the objectives of the company’s Executive Management, Karistem’s teams faced three major challenges:

  • Define the organization and functioning of the sourcing department, with everyone’s roles and responsibilities, the methods of working with internal prescribers, sourcing dashboards, vendor management tools, contract models and other standard documents etc..
  • Train new purchasing manager, raise awareness both internally and externally on the functioning of the new organization, optimize information flow between sourcing, accounting and management control
  • Increase the sourcing efficiency by identifying strategic sourcing families in which to itervene, ensuring the management of critical consultations and optimizing administrative tasks
